L’11 agosto è l’anniversario della Liberazione di Firenze dal nazifascismo.Firenze fu liberata dai partigiani che quel giorno vi entrarono armi in pugno accolti da un popolo in festa pronto ad abbracciarli come figli.
Firenze fu liberata dalle Brigate Garibaldine e da tutti quei giovani che decisero di arruolarvisi, dai chi combatté in città come i gappisti o le SAP, ma anche da tutti coloro che davano sostegno e supporto alla loro azione come le staffette, i contadini che offrivano loro cibo e riparo, gli operai che nelle fabbriche sabotavano l’economia di guerra.
Questo è e deve essere l’11 agosto per Firenze: non ci interessano posizioni equilibrate o ancor meno il silenzio di fronte al vergognoso appuntamento lanciato dai fascisti di Casaggì. Il silenzio più pesante è certamente quello delle istituzioni cittadine che autorizzando iniziative di questo tipo se ne rendono complici, concedendo ai fascisti spazi tali di agibilità politica che addirittura radio, ormai solo sedicenti di sinistra, arrivano a mandare in onda le loro interviste. Andare a Trespiano a ricordare i franchi tiratori va addirittura oltre il tentativo di riscrivere la storia.
I franchi tiratori non furono una milizia combattente che si oppose ai partigiani e all’esercito alleato come Casaggì afferma, e ci sembra strano che siano riusciti a sparare addirittura all’esercito americano che in Firenze non è mai entrato! Ci sembra invece giusto ricordare i franchi tiratori per quello che realmente furono: un manipolo di infami assassini prezzolati che dalle finestre e dai tetti ha sparato e ucciso civili inermi e disarmati con il fine di terrorizzare la popolazione. La dice lunga il fatto che su richiesta dei partigiani furono proprio i fiorentini a lasciare le porte dei propri condomini aperte durante i rastrellamenti per permettere loro di catturali e successivamente giustiziarli. Tantomeno è accettabile scivolare sull’equiparazione tra repubblichini e partigiani: i primi la guerra l’avevano voluta e continuavano a difendere un sistema di oppressione e sfruttamento, mentre gli altri si erano organizzati clandestinamente perché la guerra finisse prima e perché dalla ceneri del fascismo nascesse una società nuova.
Invitiamo quindi tutti gli antifascisti ad una mobilitazione capace di combattere l’indifferenza e il qualunquismo che ormai pervadono anche ambienti che fino a ieri, almeno su temi come quello della Resistenza, sembrava avessero sviluppato gli anticorpi necessari.
Che venga da destra o da “sinistra” la tanto decantata “pacificazione nazionale” non è affar nostro. In nome di una falsa “memoria condivisa” vorrebbero relegare la storia della nostra città a momenti puramente commemorativi come se la storia stessa si fosse fermata quel giorno, come se le ideologie di allora e gli schieramenti che allora si affrontarono non fossero più cosa dei giorni nostri. Come se oggi sfruttati e sfruttatori non esistessero più, come se oggi la guerra, ammesso che la si chiami così, fosse un male necessario per “insegnare” ad altri popoli cosa sia la civiltà. Niente di più falso e nello stesso tempo di più funzionale a chi oggi detiene il potere, sfrutta e bombarda privandoci della nostra storia, quella scritta da chi come noi era lavoratore e non era disposto ad accettare passivamente la condizione di sfruttato, ma esigeva un riscatto, il suo e quello della propria classe.
Proprio in questi mesi e in questi giorni, mentre padroni e governanti, tessono le fila di manovre “lacrime e sangue” e utilizzano i loro mezzi di persuasione di massa (informazione, guerra e repressione) per convincerci della loro necessità, la lotta di classe mostra ancora una volta tutta la sua attualità e con essa la lotta antifascista contro chi di questo sistema è un gendarme in camicia nera.

Since the end of WW2, August 11th in Florence celebrates the end of nazi and fascist occupation.
Florence was liberated by partisans entering the town with their guns in their hands, greeted by a crowding people ready to embrace them as if they were their sons.
Florence was liberated by Garibaldi partisan brigade and by young people that joined it,by urban fighters like the ones in GAP and SAP, and by all those who gave help and support: the couriers, the farmers that gave partisans food and shelter, workers in factories that sabotaged war economy too. This was august 11th in Florence and the same way it must be celebrated. We don't care at all about so called unbiased opinions; even less about the fact that the shameful event proposed by Casaggì's young fascists got virtually no reactions. A lack of reaction that becomes more serious when coming from civic institutions: allowing such events they virtually have a share in them. Fascists are allowed such freedom of action that even so-called left wing radios begun to air their interviews. Celebrating snipers in Trespiano cemetery is an act that goes even beyond every attempt to rewrite history.
Snipers were not a fighting militia opposed to partisans and Allied Forces, as Casaggì states, and seems strange to us they were able to shoot at american soldiers that even were not in Florence in those days! To us it seems right to remember them for what they really were: a handful of infamous killers that used to shoot at unarmed and peaceful civilians from windows and from roofs with the aim of terrorizing the people. People in Florence, as asked by partisans, left open doors in buildings during partisan raids, so that snipers could be captured and then executed by shooting. A tell-tale detail. Nor we can accept any equation between Social Republic soldiers on a hand, and partisans on the other. In the war they wanted, Social Republic soldiers kept on fighting for a political system based on oppression and exploitation, while partisans built a clandestine organization whose aim was to end the war as soon as possible, and to let a society of new kind rise from ashes of fascism.
We encourage thus anti-fascists in Florence to mobilize against that indifference and that misunderstanding of basic matters now pervading even groups that till few time ago could look skilled and ready enough to embrace with no questions the essence of Resistance.
"National reconciliation" is a matter we don't have anything to do with: it doesn't matter what political side -right wing, the so called "left" wing- it comes from. We can't agree with a false "shared memory" built relegating story of Florence in few celebration days as if story itself had stopped that days, as if opposed ideologies and opposed sides of that days were something that doesn't last in our time. As if in our time there were no exploiters and exploited, as if war -or whatever way it is called today- was a necessary evil to teach other people what civilization is. Nothing more false, and more useful to the ones that in our days have power, exploit and bomb us while taking our own story far from us. A story written by people like us, by workers that couldn't passively accept exploitation and were seeking for a redemption for themselves and for the class they belonged.
During these months and these days masters and rulers are weaving the threads of "blood and tears" policies; they are using their means (information, war, repression) to convince us of their needs; class struggle looks once again its relevance, together with anti-fascist action against those who behave as black shirt servants.
